IPL 2017 Match 19 SH vs KXIP : Sunrisers Hyderabad seek to regain stability against Kings XI Punjab

We are on the verge of completing two weeks in the Indian Premier League season and fans couldn’t have asked for more excitement from the cash-rich league. The hustle to stay at the helm between the teams has been entertaining and a lot more is expected to come.

Defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad who began the campaign with a riveting win are now placed at number four position. In the second game on Monday, the David Warner-led side will be taking on Kings XI Punjab in Hyderabad. Punjab on the other hand are just behind Sunrisers at number five for now. With two wins and two losses each under their belt, both the teams would be looking for improved performances.

Both Kings XI Punjab as well Sunrisers Hyderabad are coming into this match with two losses on the trot in their last respective games and would be looking to gain some momentum back.

Aaron Finch left out of Gujarat Lions’ IPL clash vs MI for this bizarre reason

Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch of Gujarat Lions arrives for the 2017

In what could be termed as one of he most bizarre reasons to miss a match, Gujarat Lions’ overseas batsman Aaron Finch could not feature in their IPL-10 clash against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday as the Australian did not have his kit bag with him.

Finch’s kit bag did not reach on time from Rajkot for MI clash and had to be dropped from the playing XI.

The reason was revealed by Gujarat Lions’ skipper Suresh Raina at the time of toss.

This is perhaps the most absurd reason to miss a match one has heard in recent times.

Finch’s participation in the match may have been prevented due sponsor commitments. Finch could have easily borrowed cricketing gears from his teammates, but his commercial deal with a bat company may not have allowed him to play the match.

Finch has scored 51 runs in three matches. The Aussie played a crucial role with skipper Raina in the last match to see the team through safely, chasing Rising Pune Supergiant’s score of 171/8 and pocket their first win of IPL-10.

Glenn Maxwell fumes at ‘s**t’ question after Kings XI Punjab’s loss in IPL T20

Kings XI Punjab fell to their second successive defeat on Saturday as Delhi Daredevils thrashed them by 51 runs to climb to the third spot on the table.

It was a day when nothing worked in favour of the Punjab franchise — their bowlers conceded 188 runs and their batsmen failed to even come close to the total. Captain Glenn Maxwell, himself fell for his first duck of the season as he holed one to deep mid-wicket. Indian all-rounder Axar Patel (44) was the only to provide a fightback but he lacked support as Kings XI Punjab failed to chase down Delhi Daredevils’ total.

In the post-match conference, Maxwell admitted that his side had to up their game in all departments. However, he took exception to a question on whether he had difficulties playing against spin. This was the first time he fell to spin in the IPL this season, with Amit Mishra taking his wicket. The Kings XI Punjab skipper was not impressed.

“That’s a shocking question,” Maxwell said. “Do you understand in the last three games I’ve hit leg-spinners for six repeatedly? S*** question.” Of the 17 players to have aggregated more than 100 runs in the IPL this season, Maxwell tops the chart in terms of strike rate — a staggering 193. He’s hit nine sixes in the IPL 2017 so far and is just behind AB de Villiers, who has smashed 10 sixes.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar again a winner despite dip in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s show

Bhuvneshwar, 27, the leading wickettaker in IPL 2016 with 23 wickets, helped Sunrisers claim the title, and is again proving a quiet success. He leads the bowling charts with 10 wickets going into the team’s fifth match, against Kings XI Punjab at home on Monday.

Bhuvi leads his teammate Rashid Khan, the teenaged Afghan leg spinner who has caught the imagination of the cricket world with subtle variations. He has taken seven wickets to be tied with Delhi Daredevils’ Chris Morris, Andrew Tye of Gujarat Lions and MI’s Mitch McClenaghan. Rising Pune Supergiant’s South African leg spinner, Imran Tahir, too had seven ahead of Sunday’s clash with Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Bhuvneshwar was the stand out player for SRH in the last two games, though they lost to Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.

IPL 2017 Match 17 Result : Rising Pune Supergiant won by 27 runs

Shardul Thakur and Ben Stokes transformed Rising Pune Supergiant’s weakest link by claiming three wickets each to hand Royal Challengers Bangalore a 27-run defeat in their IPL clash on Sunday.

In a match billed as a clash of captains — Virat Kohli versus Steven Smith —- the Australian emerged victorious after the mighty batting line-up of the home team caved in meekly to silence a packed M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

RCB bowlers seemed to have done their job after Virat Kohli elected to field first on winning the toss as Rising Pune Supergiant slid to 130 for 7 in 17.2 overs, but Manoj Tiwary took charge and hammered 27 off 11 balls to take his team to a challenging total.

RPS finished on 161 for eight before restricting Royal Challengers Bangalore 134/9.

Although the odds were still against them, all-rounder Ben Stokes, Thakur and left-arm paceman Jaydev Unadkat shared eight wickets to upstage RCB.

Stokes had Kohli caught by Ajinkya Rahane in the deep for a 19-ball 28 after Thakur, the Mumbai paceman, had got rid of the other opener, Mandeep Singh, for a duck.

Bangalore were down to 70/3 after leg spinner Imran Tahir had AB de Villiers, also well-set on 29, stumped by MS Dhoni before the Rising Pune Supergiant bowlers chipped away at the middle-order.
