Delhi Daredevils vs Chennai Super Kings Post Match Presentation IPL 2012

    Category: IPL,IPL 2012 News,IPL Chennai Super Kings,IPL Delhi DareDevils

Hilfenhaus: It was nice to start well. I wanted to put them under pressure. Sehwag might not have enjoyed that delivery. We have played very well as a team and we chased professionally. I need to improve my death bowling. There was not much swing on offer.

Hilfenhaus is the MoM for his haul of 3/27 in four overs.

Dhoni: We did not talk much about the run-rate. The focus was on authentic cricket. We needed to negotiate the new ball and we had to play normal cricket. Michael Hussey and Vijay played very well. The ball was not swinging that much. There was no lateral movement after the second over and that is why we did not bowl Hilfenhaus out. He is a better death bowler and he can only get better. Albie is bowling well with him and he is giving a lot of spark to the side.

Sehwag: It was difficult to defend 114. The wicket was good to bat on. We did not score enough runs. Hilfenhaus bowled an unplayable delivery. We have three games to go and we hope to win some of them.

IPL 2012 Preview: Delhi Daredevils vs Chennai Super Kings, 12 May 2012

Category: IPL,IPL Chennai Super Kings,IPL Delhi DareDevils

They might be upbeat after a narrow win but defending champions Chennai Super Kings’ chances of making the playoffs are still far from good as they take on tournament-leaders Delhi Daredevils in a crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 match.

The four-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals last night came as a massive boost for the two-time defending champions, who are placed fourth in the table with 13 points with six wins and an equal number of losses from their 13 matches so far.

Even a win would not be enough for Chennai to make the next grade as five teams – Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab – have four more matches to go.

The Daredevils and Knight Riders enjoy the top two positions with 18 and 17 points, respectively from 12 matches each and these two would have lesser problems in making the semifinal.

Delhi had emerged victorious the last time CSK clashed with them but given that tomorrow’s match is a home game for Chennai, the result could be different.

Delhi are ruling the roost thanks to consistence performances by captain Virender Sehwag with Australian import David Warner adding to their firepower.

IPL 5: Delhi aim to crash Chennai’s play-off hopes

Chennai: They might be upbeat after a narrow win but defending champions Chennai Super Kings’ chances of making the playoffs are still far from good as they take on tournament-leaders Delhi Daredevils in a crucial IPL match here on Saturday.

The four-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals on Thursday came as a massive boost for the two-time defending champions, who are placed fourth in the table with 13 points with six wins and an equal number of losses from their 13 matches so far. Even a win would not be enough for Chennai to make the next grade as five teams – Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab – have four more matches to go.

Delhi and Kolkata enjoy the top two positions with 18 and 17 points, respectively from 12 matches each and these two would have lesser problems in making the semi-final. Delhi had emerged victorious the last time Chennai clashed with them but given that Saturday’s match is a home game for Chennai, the result could be different.

Delhi are ruling the roost thanks to consistence performances by captain Virender Sehwag with Australian import David Warner adding to their firepower. Even though Mahela Jayawardene and Ross Taylor have not been among the runs.

Home conditions and fans support will go in favour of Chennai, who boast of a better batting line up on paper and their bowlers have provided the required oxygen for winning matches. Chennai seem to be better chasers and have played to their potential after bowlers succeeded in restricting the rival batsmen. But if Sehwag, Jayawardene and Warner fire in unison and post a solid total, Delhi’s bowlers Irfan Pathan, Shahbaz Nadeem and Morne Morkel would hold the edge.

Warner powers Delhi Daredevils to a thumping win over Deccan Chargers: IPL 2012

David Warner produced a powerful performance as he slammed 109 to power Delhi Daredevils to an emphatic nine-wicket victory over Deccan Chargers in IPL 5 match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Chasing 188-run target, David Warner notched up 52-ball fifty to lead Delhi Daredevils after losing Virender Sehwag early against Deccan Chargers in IPL 5 match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Naman Ojha also found his form with smashing the first half-century of the season to ensure Daredevils victory. Ojha hammered four huge sixes and a four.

Warner powered Daredevils past100 runs in just nine overs to set the tone for Delhi. Warner, who smashed seven fours and three sixes in his quick-fire fifty, added unbeaten 100 runs stand with Naman Ojha in just 55 balls to put Delhi on top.

After smashing 84 with the bat, Deccan Chargers’ Shikhar Dhawan struck in the first over to remove Virender Sehwag and give Delhi Daredevils huge blow.

Sehwag started off the innings with a boundary on the first delivery and he looked for another one, went for a slog over long-on, got an outside edge and Cameron White took a marvelous catch. Interestingly, the pair who steered Chargers to the mammoth total, was involved in Sehwag’s dismissal

Earlier, Dhawan (84 off 49 balls) and White (65 off 40 balls) helped Deccan Chargers post a stiff 188-run target for Delhi Daredevils.

Varun Aaron ended White’s scintillating knock in the last over of the innings when keeper Naman Ojha took high running catch at the square-leg region.

JP Duminy hit two fours in a row on the last two deliveries to take Chargers to 187 in the stipulated 20 overs. Dhawan and White stitched 126-run stand to put Delhi Daredevils on backfoot.
