Auckland Aces CLT20 Team Squad
Auckland Aces Team – Carrying Kiwi hopes; just faintly
Auckland Aces squad for clt20 is placed here. Helmed by Gareth Hopkins, Auckland Aces may not have heavy names in its armory; but it carries the weight of being New Zealand’s top team; a country with rich T20 heritage. It has always been a batting-centric team; and carries the flow with talents such as young martin Guptill, Colin de Grandhomme and Ronnie Hira. Charismatic Azhar Mahmood may spell magic both with bat and ball. It is an exceptional fielding unit and has due experience in two Kiwi oldies Lou Vincent and Kylie Mills.
It may sport a lean look in bowling, but Mills, Chris Martin and Colin Munro know their job. Going by the general Kiwi tenacity, it is expected that some unknown names as Andre Adams and Michael Bates will come to the party to boost their team’s chances. Yet, they might find the going tough against some seasoned teams in the fray. The beauty of T20 games is that the style and limitations of quick cricket diminishes difference between teams. Thus, one can give an outside chance to this team, especially if Guptill finds his form at the right moment.
Strengths – Auckland Aces is a cohesive unit with most local players joining the proceedings. Some exceptional fielders make a handsome difference to the opponent’s score. The unknown factor may also work to their advantage.
Weaknesses – Bowling looks quite ordinary even with the presence of some veterans. Absolute lack of match-winners (perhaps Guptill is one) may be the turning point in close matches. Lack of long-handles at the business end may hurt them. Auckland Aces squad 2012 for champions league twenty20 is placed below.
